Festive highlights

For the foodies

Starting 8 – 12 November, Bury welcomes it’s first ever Food Festival: pop-up food markets, artisan drinks, craft stalls, music and live entertainment. Food vendors will take residence around the Millgate, Market square and the Golden Mile in Bury Market showcasing the very best food Bury has to offer from across the world.

The Met will be running their much-loved Bury Beer Festival on the 10th and 11th November where there will be an array of craft Beers available from breweries across Bury and beyond.

The Rock continues the foodie theme with its own Christmas Food Fayre running from 18 November.

We’re lucky enough to have a wide variety of bars and restaurants that cater to every taste. Not a fan of the traditional Christmas Dinner? Bury has everything from milkshakes to meat pie and pizzas to Pad Thai all washed down with a festive cocktail or a glass of fizz.

For the culture lovers

The Met offers theatrical festive treats. Get your panto fix with performances of Aladdin or don your dancing shoes for the ABBA Reunion Christmas Party. There are Winter Workshops and Brass Band Carols at Bury Art Museum. The Vue also presents The Royals Ballet: The Nutcracker and Andre Rieu’s White Christmas.

For families

We are excited to announce we are partnering with The Met to hold a magical Lantern Parade (26 November). Come and watch the spectacular large-scale puppets of woodland creatures as they wander the streets of Bury followed by handmade lanterns. If you want to join the procession, why not take part in one of the Lantern Making Workshops or soak up the atmosphere as the parade ends on Kay Gardens which will host live music and a spectacular Fire Garden to welcome the procession back.

The Vue will be showing a selection box of Christmas movies and visual delights. From modern day classics such as Spirited to the much-loved favourites of Santa Claus: The Movie, Elf and Love Actually. December also sees the release of Wonka – destined to every chocolate lovers dream. Why not visit one of our fabulous eateries or cafes for a hot chocolate to get you in the mood?

The run up to the festive season also sees the start of East Lancashire Railways ever popular, nostalgic Santa Express, you can take a ride on The Rock Express or visit the Elf Trail at the Mill Gate.

All are welcome! You can choose to line the streets and watch the parade as it passes or come and make a lantern and join the procession yourself.
