Get ready for a weekend of creativity as artists, makers and creatives from across the borough come together for the third Bury Festival of Art, taking place Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October. From Bury Art Museum and The Met to galleries, community spaces and some more unexpected locations, there’ll be plenty to discover - with exhibitions, artwork, creative activities and the chance to meet some of the talented people behind Bury’s thriving arts scene. 🖼️✨ And the best bit? 🍺 Oktoberfest season has arrived in Bury! If good beer is your thing, there’s plenty to discover in Bury this autumn. From 5 – 11 October, Broad Street Social is getting into the Oktoberfest spirit. And with a place in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide 2027, you can expect a top-notch pint alongside the celebrations. 🍻 On 3 October, Marketside Tavern is hosting its own Oktoberfest, with a fantastic range of bottled beers and live music from Steve Hogan. 🚂 Fancy becoming part of the East Lancashire Railway? The East Lancashire Railway is inviting prospective volunteers to its first Event, Catering and Retail Volunteer Open Day on Monday 12 October. There are lots of ways to get involved – from serving cream tea aboard a first-class carriage and helping with Rail Ale Trails, to getting into the Halloween spirit on the Ghost Train or helping at family events like Days Out with Thomas and the Santa Specials. 🎃🎅 No previous experience is needed**, and full training is provided. 🏃‍♀️❤️ Looking back at a brilliant day in Bury! What a weekend! The Bury BID 10K brought thousands of runners, supporters and volunteers into the town, creating an incredible atmosphere from the start line to the finish. From seasoned runners chasing a PB, to first-timers taking on their first 10K and hundreds of young runners in the Mini and Junior races, there was plenty to celebrate. It was also fantastic to see so many of our BID businesses getting involved, with levy payers taking advantage of their free places and representing their businesses on race day. 👏 And a special thank you to Vicki Kay and the team at Barista for looking after our guests and keeping runners and supporters fuelled! ☕🏃‍♀️ As title sponsor, we're proud to have supported an event that brought people into Bury, raised thousands of pounds for charity and created such a brilliant sense of community. 🚌 Have your say on the future of Bury Interchange The consultation on proposals to redevelop Bury Interchange closes this Sunday 27 September at 11.59pm.
