Record-Breaking Crowds at Bury Comic Con 2025
Bury Comic Con 2025 has officially been the most successful yet! Thousands of visitors descended on Bury town centre for a full day of pop culture, performances, creativity and community celebration.
This year’s event brought the town centre to life. Highlights included dynamic performances from Boogie Storm, stars of Britain’s Got Talent, at The Rock, thrilling walking dinosaur encounters in Kay Gardens, and action-packed Transformers shows that wowed families throughout the day.
How the day stacked up
The Mill Gate Shopping Centre, home to the ever-popular Trader Zone, reported an 8% rise in footfall compared to last year, with comic fans and collectors browsing an exciting range of merchandise and artwork. Bury Art Museum saw over 1,200 visitors, while The Fusilier Museum welcomed hundreds who came to meet this year’s headline special guests: Peter Davison (the Fifth Doctor in Doctor Who), alongside companions Janet Fielding (Tegan Jovanka) and Sarah Sutton (Nyssa), as well as Clem So, known for roles in Star Wars, Doctor Who, and Marvel blockbusters.
One of the major highlights of the day was the sold-out Comic Con Cosplay Competition at The Met, where creativity, fandom, and talent were on full display in front of a packed and enthusiastic audience.
What the business of bury said
Local businesses saw a boost across the board. One café, Barista, commented:
“Brilliant event. Feedback from my customers was great, and it was busier than last year.”
Arnold Wilcox-Wood, Centre Director at The Rock, said: “It was fantastic to see Bury buzzing with energy for Comic Con. Such a great turnout brought real vibrancy to the town centre, especially on a Sunday.”
Nigel Shields, Bury BID Town Centre Director, paid tribute to the collaboration behind the event’s success:
“It was a massive effort from everyone involved – from venues, sponsors and partners to suppliers and our town centre businesses – without whom we couldn’t put on such a brilliant whole-town-centre event.”
Organised by Bury BID, the event continues to strengthen Bury’s position as a vibrant destination for large-scale, inclusive community events.
