To honour the arrival of the poignant Knife Angel on 1 March 2024, Bury BID is thrilled to announce a captivating photography competition open to all enthusiasts in the region.

The Knife Angel is a poignant and powerful symbol created by The British Ironworks Centre to raise awareness of knife crime in the United Kingdom and educate young people on the harmful effect violent behaviour can have on their communities. Bury BID has worked in partnership with Bury Council and Greater Manchester Police to bring The Knife Angel to Bury Town Centre. To immortalise its visit, we invite photographers of all levels to participate in this exciting competition.

Nigel Shields, Bury BID Town Centre Director said ‘Whether you’re a seasoned professional or an amateur photographer, this competition offers a platform to showcase your unique perspective and artistic interpretation of the Knife Angel. Entrants are encouraged to explore various angles, lighting conditions, and creative techniques to capture the essence and beauty of this remarkable sculpture. We look forward to seeing how our communities interact with and their artistic interpretations of The Knife Angel’.

  • Submission Deadline: 31 March 2024
  • Prizes: An exciting opportunity to have your work featured in prominent exhibitions, publications and entries will be broadcast on Discover Bury social media platforms plus:
    • 1st prize – £50 shopping voucher and a framed print of your entry courtesy of Your Frame Shop
    • 2nd prize – £30 shopping voucher
    • 3rd prize – £25 shopping voucher
