Light up a life 2025 - Bury Hospice

Light up a Life, sponsored by Fred Hamer Funeral Services, is a pivotal moment in Bury Hospice’s calendar. At this very special time of year we come together to remember those we love and miss and the joy they brought to our lives.

Christmas is a special time of year and switching the lights on our Christmas tree is an especially poignant part of our service and marks the moment where we take time to remember our loved ones.

The lights on our tree will shine brightly throughout the festive season as a symbol of our love and remind us of the special people we miss so much.

We would like you to join us in remembering your loved one by attending one of our services and dedicating a light this Christmas.

This year, Sarah Baurley will be dedicating a light to her mum Lynne Baurley, who died in Bury Hospice’s Inpatient Unit last October. This will be her second Christmas without her.

Sarah said: “From our initial visit to Bury Hospice my mum and our whole family were made to feel welcomed and supported by every single member of staff.”

“The hospice is warm and inviting and everybody has a smile, Every staff member goes above and beyond and nothing is ever too much for them. They are a credit to the community.”

“The support that we got before during and after my mum was admitted can only be described as immeasurable.”

“This is continued through all of the wonderful services devoted to lost loved ones, that Bury Hospice organise.”

“Our family will be forever grateful for the love and dedicated care shown to my mum and all of our family.”

Running alongside the annual service is Bury Hospice’s Light up a Life donation appeal, which will help us to continue to deliver palliative and end-of-life care and support to patients and their families.

We have teamed up with online memorial platform, MuchLoved so you can make a dedication online along with a photo of a loved one, a message or a memory.

The dedication you make will be featured on a special tribute page throughout our 2025 Light up a Life season.

We encourage you to spread the word of Light up a Life as we want as many people as possible from across Bury to join us.

While all of our events are here to bring people together, they raise money for us too. As a hospice we have been overwhelmed by the love we have experienced throughout the year.
