Keeping Bury Safe: Business Crime Reporting System Roll Out

Following direct feedback from town centre businesses, Bury BID launched the Business Crime Reporting (BCR) System to make reporting crime and anti-social behaviour simple, effective and GDPR-compliant.

Since its launch, the system has already demonstrated real impact:

  • Over 140 incidents logged

  • More than 85 businesses actively engaged

  • 4 arrests made, following intelligence shared through the system, as confirmed by Greater Manchester Police (GMP)

The BCR system enables businesses to share real-time information, improve communication with GMP and neighbouring businesses, and play an active role in improving town centre safety.

Why should businesses sign up?

The BCR system is a free tool, fully funded by Bury BID, designed to help businesses stay informed and protected. Benefits include:

Business Crime Reporting Drop-In Sessions

To support businesses with sign-up and effective use of the system, Bury BID is hosting a series of drop-in support sessions at the Mill Gate, in partnership with GMP, on:

 – 3, 5, 10 and 17 February (11am – 12pm)

These sessions will include:

  • On-the-spot sign-up support

  • Training and live demonstrations

  • A full system overview

  • Guidance on submitting reports and using the system effectively

These sessions are open to all town centre businesses and are designed to make adoption as easy as possible.
