Bury Running Festival 2025 Brings Town Centre to Life — Boosts Businesses and Community Spirit
Bury, Greater Manchester — 8 September 2025 — The streets of Bury were alive with energy and enthusiasm this past Sunday as thousands of runners, families, volunteers, and spectators descended upon the town centre. All of them here in support or participation of the annual Bury BID 10K, along with the Mini and Junior runs. Not only did the event celebrate fitness and community spirit – it delivered a significant boost to local businesses and charities alike. At the same time showcasing Bury town centre to existing and new visitors.
Community, Competition, and a New Course Record
The festival kicked off in a flourish! The 10K race launched from The Rock shopping centre before winding through scenic stretches. Notably the route took runners along the Kirklees Trail and returning to a triumphant finish in the heart of Bury. Altogether, the elite runners put on a show: Benjamin Kirkman shattered the course record with a blistering 32:05, closely followed by Luke Edwards (32:11) and Callum Gaunt (35:27). In the women’s race, Charlotte Gregory was first across the line in 41:26, trailed by Emma Stansfield (42:25) and Elizabeth Cooke (43:54).
But perhaps the greatest victories were the countless stories shared by participants racing to raise funds for vital causes. Particularly Backup North West, the Jane Tomlinson Appeal, Jigsaw, and Trust House. Organisers report that thousands of pounds were raised through charity fundraising efforts, making real differences across the local area.
Mini and Junior Runs Inspire Young Runners
The fun didn’t stop with the adults. The Mini (1.5K) and Junior (2.5K) races encouraged runners aged as young as three to take part, turning the day into a celebration of activity and inclusivity for all ages.
A Day That Delivered – For Business Too
The true measure of success wasn’t just the finish-line photos – it was the palpable buzz across the town centre.
For example the event village – with food, drink stalls, and charity stands – served as a focal point that encouraged attendees to linger, shop, and engage with businesses. Local venues reported an uplift in footfall and commented on the positive atmosphere that carried throughout the morning and into the afternoon.
Powerful Partnerships and Local Leadership
Run For All’s Operations Director, Tristan Batley-Kyle, praised the runners, volunteers, and spectators:
“A huge ‘well done’ to all participants … The enthusiasm and support ensured the day was a great success and saw participants raise thousands for local charities.”
Meanwhile, Bury BID stands out as a title sponsor, reinforcing a multi-year commitment to elevating community events that benefit local commerce. Councillor Tamoor Tariq reaffirmed the spirit behind the festival:
