Bury BID partners with Bury Council to spring clean and revitalise Bury Town Centre

Bury BID and Bury Council are teaming up to jointly enhance the Bury town centre environment for the enjoyment of residents, businesses, and visitors alike.

The partnership gets underway this week, when Bury Council will begin replacing recycling and litter bins across the town centre, starting on the Old Rock and down to Market Place, Kay Gardens and Library Gardens.

Other planned improvements, to be funded by Bury BID, include:

• a complete deep clean of key public areas;
• seating refurbishments along the Old Rock;
• hanging baskets installed on Bolton Street;
• a range of planting initiatives to provide floral displays and greenery to brighten up the public spaces and promote sustainability.

“This partnership is about improving the town centre and enhancing the visitor experience, “said Nigel Shields, Town Centre Director at Bury BID.

“We’re excited about the changes that will be taking place over the coming months and the positive impact these will have on the area. These efforts will help create a cleaner, more attractive environment for all who live, work, and visit Bury.”

Councillor Alan Quinn, Cabinet Member for the Environment, Climate Change and Operations, said: “We are thrilled to be working in partnership with Bury BID to jointly create a more pleasing visitor experience across Bury town centre.

“Ensuring the town is accessible and welcoming for all is so important, not only for the people that visit, but also the local economy.”

The various enhancements will be carried out over the coming months, with a view to boosting civic pride and achieving a significant improvement in the overall look and feel of the centre.

This initiative is organised by Bury BID and funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) and the businesses of Bury town centre.
