BURY BID APPOINT TOWN CENTRE DIRECTOR

Bury Business Improvement District (Bury BID) has appointed Nigel Shields as Town Centre Director to deliver on strategic objectives that will make a real difference to Bury in the coming years.

Nigel brings a wealth of experience to the role, most recently as Head of Employer Engagement and Skills at Bury College for the last 3 years. He has extensive knowledge of the area and the local business community and a deep understanding of the pressure on local businesses.

Bury BID Chair Victoria Robinson said: “The board are very much looking forward to working with Nigel as Bury BID continues on its exciting journey. Nigel brings with him a wealth of experience of working with employers and has some fantastic ideas for promoting Bury and supporting businesses.”

Nigel Shields, Bury BID’s new director, said: “I am so excited to be given the opportunity to make an impact on this wonderful town.  Bury is my chosen destination to work, shop and socialise and I want to show people who are new to the town or come from out of town, exactly what Bury can offer them.”

Nigel describes himself as “a local lad” who would like to see a thriving Bury community in the town centre and is keen to showcase what Bury has to offer. He enjoys family time, playing table tennis and in the summer, can be seen frequenting the golf courses in the area.
