Special Guests, Interactive Experiences and International Comic Festival Collaboration Announced for Bury BID Comic Con 2026

Bury BID Comic Con is set to return to Bury town centre on Sunday 28 June 2026 – and organisers have now revealed more details about this year’s special guests, immersive themed zones and interactive experiences.

Delivered by Bury BID in partnership with local venues, businesses and event partners, and supported by sponsors Orbital and WOW Events, the FREE town centre event will once again transform venues and public spaces across Bury into a celebration of pop culture, creativity and community.

This year’s event will feature a packed programme of family-friendly entertainment including cosplay, comics, sci-fi, movie vehicles, roaming dinosaurs, interactive workshops and special guest appearances across multiple themed zones.

One of this year’s headline attractions will be the Doctor Who Zone at Castle Leisure Centre, where fans will have the opportunity to meet actor Paul McGann, known for his role as the Eighth Doctor in Doctor Who and cult classic Withnail and I, alongside a range of special guests, artists and creators from across the Whoniverse.

The Comic Creator Zone will also welcome legendary comic artist David Lloyd, acclaimed illustrator and co-creator of V for Vendetta, alongside celebrated comic artist John Ridgway (Hellblazer, Doctor Who) and a line-up of creators and independent artists appearing throughout the day.

Adding an international creative connection to this year’s event, representatives from the Festival international de la bande dessinée d’Angoulême (FIBD) – one of the world’s most celebrated comic festivals – will host live drawing sessions and interactive activities inviting visitors to explore the world of comic art in a relaxed and creative environment.

Visitors will also be encouraged to get hands-on with a range of interactive activities taking place throughout the event, including the Comic Con: Pen! Paper! Pose! drawing sessions and the Cosplay Competition hosted at The Met.

Booking is now open for both experiences, with organisers encouraging visitors to secure places early due to limited capacity.

New for 2026, the Enchanted Zone at Mill Gate will feature FREE magical drop-in workshops and immersive fantasy experiences delivered by the League of Curiosity, offering families the chance to explore potion-making, natural sorcery and interactive storytelling throughout the day.

Elsewhere across the town centre, visitors can expect movie vehicles, sci-fi characters, roaming dinosaurs, traders, cosplay and interactive family activities, with East Lancashire Railway joining the event this year as host venue for the Trader Zone.

Businesses across the town centre are also being encouraged to get involved by dressing shop windows, hosting themed activities and joining the wider event atmosphere across the day.
