Bury BID Comic Con 2026 Set to Take Over Town Centre with Star Guests and Themed Zones

Free, family-friendly pop culture event returns for its fourth year with celebrity guests, immersive experiences and activities across Bury

Bury BID Comic Con returns on Sunday 28 June 2026, bringing a spectacular celebration of pop culture to Bury town centre – and the best part, it’s completely FREE to attend.

Now in its fourth year, the hugely popular event will once again transform the town centre into a vibrant hub of comics, film, sci-fi and fantasy, with themed zones, special guests, live entertainment and interactive experiences spread across multiple venues.

A Town Centre Takeover

Visitors can explore a series of immersive zones across key locations including Castle Leisure Centre, The Rock, The Met, East Lancashire Railway, Kay Gardens and Mill Gate Shopping Centre. Each space will offer a unique experience, encouraging visitors to explore the town centre and enjoy everything Bury has to offer.

Highlights include:

• Doctor Who Zone (Castle Leisure Centre) – Featuring a headline appearance from Paul McGann, alongside a line-up of guests including Reecey Pontiff, Martin Ballantyne, Clem So, Martin Geraghty, and the Cutaway Comics team. Expect iconic props including Daleks, a Cyberman and the TARDIS.
• Comic Creator Zone (Castle Leisure Centre) – A must-visit for comic fans, with renowned artists David Lloyd (V for Vendetta illustrator) and John Ridgway appearing together, alongside a strong line-up of creators including Nigel Parkinson (The Beano), Colin Mathieson, Dan Whitehead and more.
• Jurassic Zone (Kay Gardens) – Step back in time into a prehistoric adventure featuring life-sized roaming dinosaurs, fossil discovery activities, ranger-led encounters, and immersive photo opportunities.
• Sci-Fi Zone (The Rock) – Meet characters from across the galaxy including Darth Vader, Chewbacca and The Mandalorian, plus Transformers walkabouts and interactive experiences.
• Movie Zone (The Rock – St John’s Square) – Get up close with iconic vehicles including the Batmobile, Harry Potter flying car and the Toy Story Pizza Planet van.
• Cosplay Zone (The Met) – Show off your creativity in the cosplay competition (details to be announced), with activities for participants and spectators alike.
• Trader Zone (East Lancashire Railway) – Browse a bustling marketplace of comics, collectibles, artwork and fandom merchandise, and enjoy refreshments at the Trackside Pub.
• Enchanted Zone (Mill Gate) – A magical, family-friendly area featuring free interactive sorcery workshop hosted by the League of Curiosity.

A Growing Regional Event

Since launching, Bury Comic Con has grown into a major regional attraction, drawing thousands of visitors each year and boosting footfall across the town centre. The event is organised by Bury BID and funded by town centre businesses, showcasing Bury as a vibrant destination for culture, creativity and community events.

The event is delivered in collaboration with Orbital (Creative Partner) and WOW Events (Event Delivery Partner), helping to bring the immersive experience to life.
