Every September, across the country, thousands of museums, galleries, factories, archives, churches open their doors, offering a chance to explore local, history, architecture.
Bury Castle is one of the most important historic sites in Bury. It dates back to 1469 but was only discovered in 1865 by workmen digging for a new sewer. The talk will cover the history of Bury in the Middles Ages, including the murder of the Lord of the Manor, Henry de Bury in 1315, the history of the Castle during the War of the Roses and the rediscovery of buried ruins.
