Every September, across the country, thousands of museums, galleries, factories, archives, churches open their doors, offering a chance to explore local, history, architecture.
Meet at the statue of Sir Robert Peel (Market Place, Bury, BL9 0LD) and join Bury Archaeological Group for a heritage walk around Bury taking in the Parish Church, the Old Grammar School, and the site of the Bronze Age Urn find. Then to Bury Castle site and remains, down to Galipoli Garden and into Bury Museum looking at finds from the Castle dig. Visit the plaques about John Kay and the remains of the Medieval Town Ditch that surrounded Bury.
