A Town Centre-Wide Celebration of Pop Culture Returns
Bury BID Comic Con returns on Sunday 28 June 2026, transforming Bury town centre into a free, immersive celebration of comics, sci-fi, film and fantasy for all ages. Now in its fourth year, the event continues to grow as one of the North West’s most exciting pop culture experiences — bringing together themed zones, special guests, cosplay, movie vehicles and interactive entertainment across multiple venues.
Organised by Bury BID and funded by the businesses of Bury town centre, Comic Con is a completely FREE event designed to attract new visitors, encourage exploration of the town centre and increase dwell time across the day.
A Growing Town Centre Experience
Bury Comic Con has become a key fixture in the town’s cultural calendar, attracting visitors from across the region and encouraging them to explore Bury’s shops, venues and hospitality throughout the day.
Delivered by Bury BID, and supported through collaboration with Orbital (Creative Partner) and WOW Events (Event Delivery Delivery Partner / Production Supplier), the event showcases the power of partnership, creativity and community in bringing large-scale town centre experiences to life.

Explore the Zones Across the Town Centre
Bury Comic Con takes place across multiple iconic venues, each hosting its own themed world of entertainment and discovery.
Doctor Who Zone – Castle Leisure Centre
Step into time and space with iconic props, immersive displays and a headline appearance from Paul McGann, alongside guests including Reecey Pontiff, Clem So, Martin Ballantyne, Martin Geraghty, and the Cutaway Comics team.
Comic Creator Zone – Castle Leisure Centre
Meet leading comic talent including David Lloyd and John Ridgway, appearing together as a major highlight for fans, alongside creators such as Nigel Parkinson (The Beano), Colin Mathieson, Dave West, Steve Tanner, Dan Whitehead and more.
Sci-Fi Zone – The Rock
Encounter iconic characters from across science fiction including Darth Vader, Chewbacca and The Mandalorian with Grogu, alongside Transformers walkabouts and interactive appearances.
Movie Zone – St John’s Square, The Rock
Get up close to legendary film vehicles including the Batmobile, Harry Potter flying car and Toy Story Pizza Planet van.
Cosplay Zone – The Met
Celebrate creativity, costume design and fandom expression, with cosplay competitions and interactive creative activities throughout the day.
Trader Zone – East Lancashire Railway
Browse a vibrant marketplace of comics, collectibles, artwork and pop culture merchandise, with food and drink available nearby at the Trackside Pub.
Enchanted Zone – Mill Gate
Step into a world of magic with free interactive workshops hosted by the League of Curiosity, including natural sorcery and potion-making experiences for all ages.
Jurassic Zone – Kay Gardens
Step back in time into a prehistoric adventure featuring life-sized roaming dinosaurs, fossil discovery activities, ranger-led encounters, and immersive photo opportunities. A thrilling, family-friendly experience bringing the world of dinosaurs to life in the heart of Bury.
